And, there’s so much more! Join us on a journey through time to uncover the more recent history of Long Island's North Shore. In the roaring 1920s, this area was a hub for rumrunners and bootleggers, navigating the waters to supply alcohol to the opulent Gold Coast mansions. With its close proximity to New York City, Long Island became a prime location for the smuggling of illegal booze. Fast forward to the turn of the century, and the North Shore was a haven for the elite, boasting extravagant "country estates" reminiscent of European palaces. Today, many of these historic estates have been repurposed into museums, gardens, and more, inviting the public to experience the grandeur of a bygone era. Join us in exploring the rich tapestry of Long Island's past and witness the legacy of wealth and luxury that still echoes through the North Shore today through its historic sites, museums, cultural attractions, and quaint port villages. Find overnight accommodations, fine dining, shopping and more.
