Enjoy the cozy Brewster House this fall!
The Taste of the Tavern tour gives participants a “taste” from across three centuries of history at the authentic Brewster House and tavern.
Experience when it was the 17th home to Nathanial Brewster, minister and aide to Oliver Cromwell in the English Civil War and witness its transformation during the American Revolution.
Participants learn of the British occupation at the Brewster House, and whether Joseph Brewster was tied to the Culper Spy Ring. Additional stories include the 17th century witch trials, Afro and indigenous slavery and indentured labor in the home, and its women’s history are also discussed.
Guests will enjoy a colonial bohea tea, the tea culminating in the Boston Tea Party. Masks required.
